North Korea says the issue has been resolved.
Some say Japan is isolating itself in the six party talks by linking the abduction issue to the talks.
Japan says "North Korea is the one being isolated, not Japan."
However...Japan is saying it would be willing to participate in a working group on economic and energy assistance for the DPRK, if for no other reason than to show North Korea that there is a common front opposing the regime.
North Korea has not responded.
IMHO...Japan ought to move the issue of the abductions to another time and venue.
And, the DPRK...should go hungry until its people get tired of it and do something about it themselves.
What do you think?
