A survey was conducted by Mizuho Research Institute about how Japanese are doing business in China.
1. 62% of Japanese companies doing business in China plan to increase their investments for research and development.
2. 57% of Japanese parent companies will allow local Chinese units to draw up spending plans.
3. 75% of Japanese head offices say that Japan will ultimately decide how money is spent.
4. 64% of Japanese companies say they will allow their Chinese units to hire managers and determine salaries.
5. Operating funds will be determined by headquarters in Japan.
It will take considerable time for the local Chinese branches to earn the trust of their Japanese bosses.
