
Nintendo's Wii went on sale in Japan today.
People lined up (3,000) at one store in Tokyo. And, shortages are inevitable.
The magic wand sold out in America.
The Tokyo store turned away people at 5:40am,long before the store even
opened!
The Kyoto-based father of Super Mario expects its simple Wii to appeal to the graying population and diminishing interest in video games that is happening in Japan.
Little girls and office ladies are also on the list of hopefuls for Nintendo.
More than 600,000 Wii consoles were sold in the US in the one week leading up to Thanksgiving.
Nintendo expects the 400,000 on sale in Japan to disappear just as quickly.
That's one million consoles at $250 each. I don't know what the profit margin is, but that's $250 million in Nintendo's coffers to be used for their next generation ideas.
