Japan has been vicious with the US and its beef farmers because cattle in the US came down with mad cow disease.
Later the US shipped 'suspicious parts' to Japan that are susceptible to mad cow disease. The result was a ban on beef imports that cattlemen are still trying to recover from.
Now, Japan's Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry has reported
The cow was 5 years and 4 months old. The Ministry said the cow will be incinerated and not enter that human food chain.
Gee, how comforting.
The cow apparently was born before the implementation of a ban on meat-and-bond meal that was the suspected cause of the disease.
Fortunately, or not, Japan does not export its beef. But, it strikes me as a bit hypocritical that Japan blasts the US for its part in mad cow disease, when Japan itself has a similar problem.
Are the Japanese talking out of two sides of their mouth here?
What do you think?

Is any buddy told me that am that cow apparently was born before the implementation of a ban on meat-and-bond meal that was the suspected cause of the disease?
