Eight of Japan’s major electronic makers saw higher sales in April-September.
The firms are Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Toshiba Corp., Fujitsu Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corp., Sharp Corp., Pioneer Corp., Hitachi Ltd and Sony Corp.
Flat panel sales led to record sales for Matsushita and Sharp.
Fujitsu’s information system business was a hit overseas.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is Japan’s No. 2 carrier by revenue. The company added good news to the Japanese economic upswing by reporting that their net profit was up 69% over a year earlier.

Fujifilm Holdings posted a profit of over 10% in the second quarter of this fiscal year. Japan’s fiscal year begins in April.
Fujifilm’s sales were down in color film and digital cameras but the slack was made up for in sales of display panels and digital copiers.
Profits totaled about 18.99 billion yen ($160 million).
