Business leaders say, "Stay Home."
The majority of the general public in Japan say, "Stay Home."
Still, Koizumi, who pledged to continue the visits to the Yasukuni shrine five years ago, plans to visit again this year.
LDP supporters back the visits to the shrine more so than others, but still most think it is bad form.
Abe Shinzo is the front-runner to replace Koizumi Junichiro and he plans to continue the visits. His closest opponent says he will stay home.
It is obvious that the more the visits continue, the more tension there is between Japan and her neighbors.
The Chinese ambassador to Japan says, "It is an Asia tradition to refrain from doing things that upset your neighbors." I wish it were a tradition with my neighbors.
The ambassador continued, "The victims should try to forget as much as possible. The perpertrators should to remember as much as possible. In that way the two sides can come closer. Unfortunately, I do not feel the perpetrators are trying to remember."
I vote, 'Stay home.'
