Japan's low birth rate is causing havoc. Not only in information technology, but in many industries in Japan, a lack of talent is on the horizon.
Japan's software market, for example, generates about $100 billion in revenue a year or one fifth of the world's market.
With a shortage of workers just around the bend, one company sees Vietnam as a resource for programmers.
The reasons:
Vietnamese pay attention to detail - a key ingredient in Japan's ability to set itself apart from others competing in the same arena.
Vietnamese also have high logic and IT skills.
Vietnamese are studying Japanese as well. And, that doesn't hurt.
Vietnamese also can be hard workers.
It won't happen overnight, but it seemms to me that companies that court Vietnam, take the time to train its workers, and teach the business culture of Japan could find themselves a valuable resource in the future there.
