Japan and Vietnam are courting one another.
On August 21st an agreement on scientific and technological co-operation was signed in Hanoi - according to www.nhandan.com
The purpose of the agreement was to:
1. facilitate exchanges of information, scientists and technicians
2. provide training to improve professional skills
3. protect intellectual property rights
Both sides agreed to work on these goals. To date the relationship between these two countries have seen:
1. Hundreds of undergrad and post grad scholarships awarded to Vietnamese students for study in Japan
2. Japan supporting the modernization of Vietnam's intellectual property system
3. Japan helping Vietnam develop atomic electricity and radiation safety
4. Japan giving aid to medical and food processing research
There are three active projects:
1. Japan is helping to Vietnam to modernize its industrial property management system.
2. Japan is contributing to build an information technology training institute at the Hanoi National University
3. Japan is assisting in building and information technology engineer testing center that meets Japan and regional standards.
Japan and Vietnam are courting one another. Vietnam can use the assistance, and when the time comes, Japan could use the resources of the Vietnamese workforce.
It is good to see these two countries cooperate.
