GM is doing its darndest to turn itself around...and turn around is what is needed.
Now, GM is considering a partnership with Japan's Nissan Motor Renault.
GM's CEO, Wagoner, was not as outspoken about the possibilities of the merger as Nissan's Ghosn was.
Wagoner would not confirm they when they were meeting. Ghosn, on the other hand said he could imagine a wide-ranging alliance on things such as:
1. Sharing in GM's fuel-cell research
2. Accessing GM's American factories
3. Some kind of equity swap
Nissan and Renault may EACH buy a 10 percent stake in GM at $1.6 billion a head.
No doubt, GM could use the money, but do they want to start selling itself off. Does GM have a choice?
Just the fact that GM is in these talks, thinking about a partnership and such shows how hard up the American car company is getting.
A partnership with a successful Japanese company might be good business but somehow, somewhere, someone won't be too happy about it.
What do you think?

Bigger question might be how hard up is Nissan.
