
As if the big car companies didn't have enough trouble with competition from Japan.
Now the parts manufacturers for the automakers have their hands full as well.
Japanese parts makers generally focus on the Japan domestic market, but now are being courted by American car companies.
Last year the Japanese suppliers accounted for about one fourth of the $100+ million worth of products in the US.
Denso (DENZO.PK) generally makes their living off of supplying parts for Toyota. However, last year Denso sales grew by nearly 20% while Delphi (DPHIQ.PK) LOST $2 billion.
Another Japanese company, Aisin Seiki saw sales grow 37% with more than $1 billion sold to American car manufacturers.
It is obvious that Japan not only knows cars, they also know car part supply.
